Does anyone have an idea what the specs are for internal barrel threads on the Atrax RB & FP kits. I need to make a closed end mandrel to "re-turn" or re-shape a couple closed end barrels. Thanks for the help.

Do I understand you correctly? You are going to make a threaded post to hold the Atrax body by its threaded coupler and re-turn it?

If you have the capacity to make or have made a mandrel then rather make a tool to extract the coupler. You can knock one up in half an hour like this one

It would probably be cheaper to buy a new kit than pay someone to make something for you.

Here are a couple other methods of getting it out.
Like the first pic, you could make a snazzy set of dissassembly tools. We all know that you can strip down most pens with a transfer punch set, but sometimes that can look a bit crude when you have customers in front of you.
The next pic is a good method. It's simple too.
Simply turn down the head of a big bolt till it just fits in the coupler.
The brass nut has a small recess that matches the coupler ring and there is a spacer there too.
Insert the tool and move it slightly sideways so that the shoulder of the tool is snagged by the inside end of the coupler. Tighten the bolt nut by hand and the coupler will come out easily.

You can also make a simple slide hammer using the same shoulder tool thingy:wink:

That was my original thought - I made a closed end ATRAX FP and now am not happy with the shape, but it has texas ebony & aluminum scallops on it so I need to take every caution to preserve it. Any other ideas?
Thanks

Thanks Skip - This may be the ticket ! I'll give it a try, doesn't look hard to make. I guess to use it you simply insert the "thingy" (technical term) until it catches the shoulder of the coupler and then turn the nut?

Yep, it's real simple. If you lived closer then I'd gladly take it out for you.
