Arbutus

I live where there is an abundance of Arbutus. (Madrone) and have turned a lot of it but its Allways been dry. A few of my guild members are always getting green Arbutus and rough turning it then boil it. But said sometimes it will mould no matter what you do. Well I went with a few members and got a large tree and did all the above and I just checked by bowls from a week ago and I have got the dreaded mould. I have turned most of it away but the black spots go deep into the wood. Now I am praying that it won't come back
Any of you have any experience with this wood.

Only thing I know about Madrone is that it's a B***h to split for firewood. No help for your problem.
