i plan to try my luck with "semi kitless" pens and i believe that the apollo pen kit is a good choice to do so. along with the various paraphernalia needed i suppose i would need special drill bits; is a stepped drill a better/ easier approach to drill these blanks?is a wood lathe accurate enough to have a good result or i need a metal lathe. Any bit of advice is appreciated, cheers.

Rick Herrell Apollo "Stepped" drill bit works great!

I have made many Apollo pens both ways, regular bit and Stepped bit. I really like the stepped bit with the Apollo. I use wood lathe also with no problem
