Do you want a nice deal maybe??

I dropped my calipers in the only standing bucket of water in my shop and they are now ruined. (Not good as they were Fowlers!)

The problem is that I just spend about $300 getting my roto-tiller motor rebuilt and my "Finance Department" said I can't buy a pair right now. The problem is that I really need a pair to make the sander mills! If someone has a spare set, or is close enough to Harbor Freight to buy a set and mail them to me, I offer in trade a Jr. Statesman kit (FP) and a killer blank to make it with. I have some nice burls, some acrylic's and I will even part with a red jasper tru-stone blank.

I need the digital ones, and they don't have to be the Harbor Freight, but they do have to be in good condition. (and a case would be nice) This is a great deal dollar wise and it helps me out too. I should mention, I am not looking for the super cheap "composite" set, but the metal one.

I could also trade even for one of my pen mills if you like.

Fountain pen snob,

I live about 7 minutes from Harbor Freight store, and will be more than happy to take you up on this offer. Please email me your snail mail info, and I will put it in the mail.

Thanks,
Daniel Heine

There's a Harbor freight store in West Springfield. How far is that from you?

Lee,

I just happen to have a spare 6 inch stainless english/metric decimal digital caliper in nearly-new condition, with fitted case and extra battery. The only negative comment I have is that the battery appears to be low (I'm getting a low battery flash). As it came this way, I can't guarantee the state of the extra battery, but there is one. I could have it in the mail today if you like.

Let me know,
Eric

Thanks guys, Eric, I sent you a message.

I appreciate the help! I have way over blown my "budget" getting the garden in this year. I am almost done with the restoration on a 1981 Troy-Blit 8hp "Horse" model, why I even have a NOS set of decals for it! ;) I will add a photo when it's painted.

PS.. I have two that are within "driving distance" that one in W. Springfield and one in RI, but it will still cost me more than $20+ in gas to get there, that is why I wanted to see if anyone had a spare set. HF's mailing is WAY too slow to just order online!

Wow, Lee!!! I'm a Troy-Bilt nut--I had a new one from the late 70's with the 7HP Kohler---I blew it and 2 other engines, and then sold it when I last moved. That was one awesome tiller and I tilled a lot of land with that baby.:D Anyway, would love to see your pic when you have it ready!!

Well Tom, you know why I can't wait then! If you thought the 7hp one was nice, you should try out the big one like I have. :D Mine does not have the electric start, but it does have the chevron lug tires and the engine gaurd. The motor that I had rebuilt is the Briggs & Stratton I/C version. The motor has been converted from points to electronic magneto as well. Not only do I have the NOS decal set that was mailed to my dad in the early 80's as replacements.
I have ALL the paperwork from the original bill of sale, all the owners manuals, supplements, and even some of those "Garden-Way" news letters they used to send! My Dad kept everything on this tiller. I grew up running this in the spring to re-till my parents two large gardens in the spring-time. :D

Tom, just to give you an idea of what I was faced with, here are some photos.
I have everything but the main handle bars, drivetrain, and wheels sandblasted and primed. I have about two dozen parts hanging from my shop ceiling right now! :D

And here is the sad sack of a motor I had done. Before:

And "mid-way" (It is ready to be painted in Massey Ferguson Red)

i have a 1971 PONY model i got from a now deceased friend. rebuilt the whole thing several years back. used to read the garden way publications over and over.

Sweet Lee!! Thanks for sharing. Someone from our Church donated a nice Troy Bilt for the youth sale last year---I think they sold it for only $200 or so--pretty sure it had the 8HP also---wish I'd bought it, but with my current set up I have no place to put it and could only till a very small area. I'll keep drooling over yours, please share more as you near completion!!

Not a problem at all Harold, I was very pleased to see how many did come to my aid to help out.

Hey Tom, I might buy these decals to finish off the motor, they the 1960's style and are way too old to be correct, but they sure would look sweet on it! It would cost me about $18.00 on e-bay so I will most likly do it at some point seeing as how the motor is so open on this thing.
