I have a customer that wants a cap with a clip for the raw stainless steel fountain pen. I had one attempt at making a clip for it that I was going to weld to it and file it down. But the clip material ended up to thin and the welder blew through it, effectively ruining the cap. I have one more extra cap so I haven't tried anything else yet.

Any suggestions?

Mike the cap is made from a solid piece of metal. Well the Aluminium one is. ;) There is probably just enough metal to drill and tap for a small short screw in the end of the top centre and from the side at the top if that was what you are thinking.

Yes the cap is one piece with what seems more than enough material to drill and tap for a clip. I didn't know if anyone made clips for such an occasion.

Most clips used for this are hand made by the pen maker. They buy thin stainless sheet and cut out the clip shape and then hand finish it.
