Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has videos or links to videos of PR/Acrylic turning with a WoodChuck? Or just Pr/ Acrylic turning in general, just wondering what technique and speed people are turning at?

Seems that PR / Acrylic is a bit of a time-slog compared to Wood!

I don't have any video info for you, but just some commentary you might find useful. For me, the biggest problem with the woodchuck on PR is going from square to round. You do have to go slower or else you can get bad chipping. I knock all the corners off with either the bandsaw or a grinding wheel. Once the blank is round I can go just as fast as I do with wood.

Better yet, now I just cast round and skip the rounding step alltogether. Also, even if you start square and have to go slower at first, I feel like you make up that time on the back end when finishing. I have gotten pretty quick with CA finishing, but still nowhere near as fast as just sanding an polishing PR.

Thank guys.

Just can't get my woodchuck going as well with the PR as the wood! Seems to not take ribbons or be too aggressive can't get the ultimate inbetween cutting action!!

Also, which blade are you using? I get much better cutting actions on PR with the R2 blade vs. the R4. The R4 seems to have too much "contact" area with the blank.
