A friend of mine lived there for a few years. He told me about a place that used to throw out pieces of wood of different types. He used to go by and pick up some every so often. He has gotten purple hart, teak, zebra and a couple others. I'm sure that someone here could use some of this wood instead of having to buy it or letting it go to the dump.

If you live in the seattle area and would like to go check this place out to see if they still throw out the wood, please reply here or send me a PM and I'll send you the info I have about where it is. I'd rather give out the info privately.

And if you care to send some of your finds to Florida, well, OK[:p]
Thanks

Well, I didn't want to just put the directions to the place out online. If the business owner found out about it, they might not like it too much. If they got too much traffic looking for their trash and not their business, they might start throwing it away where you can't get to it.

I understand your thinking along the lines of "whats the deal". Do you think I should just post the directions to the place online?

For goodness sake, we are talking about wood that somebody is throwing away. I am sure they would be thrilled that it isn't going to the landfill. By all means keep it secret if you wish...all you appear to be doing is making assumptions about how much traffic there will be and also about if/how/when/why the owner see people taking his trash would feel. A lot of assumptions for scrap wood.

Way to much drama for me. I will keep getting my free black walnut from the bin outside a trophy making business.

Well Ruth, I'm sorry that it is too dramatic for you. I don't want to keep it a secret. That is why I offered to send you, or anyone else, the directions on how to get to the place.

Which one? Would you be willing to post the address here? After all, it is garbage to the shop.

It's The last business on Lonsdale St in North Vancouver. Go around the back and you will see a big pallet box covered with plywood. It's in there. All you have to do is either keep dropping by, or, try and figure out when they will empty their shop bins. I don't usually take the whole load: I wouldn't have room for it, plus I always try and leave some for the next person.

Reminds me of when I'm up in Pittsburgh visiting all of our relatives. When the whole family is together and enjoying a little after dinner conversation about politics or something a little controversial . . . and things begin to get hot . . . my brother-in-law will pipe up and ask ..... "How about those Pirates?" Everybody chuckles a little and then they calm down.

With that in mind . . .

Mudder always gets a laugh out of it. ;)

I can't believe I'm starting a fight about not starting fights! ;);):D:D:D

Blech. What a waste of a season, and we had such high hopes too.

LOL My wife loves the pirates....especially Johnny, Depp that is. He is her favorite.

I was being sarcastic when I suggested she tell us where the trophy shop is. I sometimes forget that my sarcasm doesn't come through in forums. I apologize to anyone that might have been upset in any way, shape or form from this post going where it did. Including you Ruth.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program....

You're right, Dave, as always! I have it all wrong!! It's "Mariners" .. not "Pirates". How creative of you borrow my peace slogan and on top of that .... modify it for the Mariners!! What a creative guy!!! ;);)

I can't believe I'm starting a Rodney King post! ;);):D:D:D

Doc,

I am humbled by your praise, not to mention your recognition of our lowly NW team. I will take pictures and post them here for you to enjoy!
