I've got a pretty good collection of mechanical watches, pocket, desk and aircraft, from my watch collecting/repairing period. I self trained on pocket watch repair about 20 years ago. I also have thousands of watches for salvage/repair (and yes, the idea of watch parts pens has crossed my mind). I'm most proud of the 200 or so pristine porcelian pocket watch dials.

I like to "collect" watches but not old ones and I wear mine when I can rather than have them sit in a drawer. I like the new ones and like ones that are different. I have picked a couple up in Japan over the years that are different. I also have a watch with Goofy on it and it goes backwards.

Not much

I know only that Mickey Mouse watches are very collectable and that some models can bring real whoop-de-doo prices. I have no idea how to determine which models are worth the gold and which are the "dollar dummies"

I collect rolex watches... I have a few that are in my safe.. and I love them.. any condition then restored.

my collection has been built up by people giving them to me with broken glass, clogs missing teeth, or just not working.. and have spent a good few quid/dollars in america doing them up or sending them off for the more indepth problems.

so I love rolex watches..

You must have some money tied up in those. I love Rolex watches too but the only ones I can afford are the replicas:biggrin:

I love railroad watches, all types and models. That being said, I've confined myself to the 16 size, 21 or more jewel hamilton's. Not that I don't like the waltham's and elgin's, but prefer to have a more complete collection of one brand than a scattering of several. I'm still on the lookout for a nice ball/hamilton 999, and will always snap up a 950 or 992 if the price is right.
