I have enough penturning tools and guitars, and wanted a new tool or something. So a good friend got into metal detecting and persuaded me . It seems to be a pretty big hobby. I haven't went out yet - it's been sitting charged-up in a its box for 10 days. Maybe, I will find all of those lost skate keys (must be at least 40 to know what I ma taking about).

I've had a Garrett 1500 for quite a while now. I enjoy detecting every now and then. It's a hobby that takes a lot of patience. Lol Learn your detector well so you don't dig up too much garbage. Have fun!

I used to do metal detecting. Started back in late '70's. Still have a working Garrett VLF TR/D. Darn thing uses 6, 9-volt batteries. Also have the extra deep coil. Found a missing gold ring for a neighbor. Not much else of any real value. Haven't used it for years.

... and I thought this was about finding nails and staples in wood before running it through your saw ...
