I have enough penturning tools and guitars, and wanted a new tool or something. So a good friend got into metal detecting and persuaded me . It seems to be a pretty big hobby. I haven't went out yet - it's been sitting charged-up in a its box for 10 days. Maybe, I will find all of those lost skate keys (must be at least 40 to know what I ma taking about).

I have one I bought from Maplin for my daughter when she was about 8 years old. She's now an archaeologist 
and moved onto bigger and better

I used to do metal detecting. Started back in late '70's. Still have a working Garrett VLF TR/D. Darn thing uses 6, 9-volt batteries. Also have the extra deep coil. Found a missing gold ring for a neighbor. Not much else of any real value. Haven't used it for years.
I bought a minelab equinox 900. "Met" a lot of nice folks frum UK and AU on a MD FB group. Going out Saturday. My friend owns a few acres about 10 miles away.I have one I bought from Maplin for my daughter when she was about 8 years old. She's now an archaeologist
