I have turned some antler blanks for a few bolt action pens. The antler is porous, so I know it probally needs to be sealed with something, just not sure what would be best. If anyone has a good recommendation for a finsh on antler pens I would like to hear it. Thanks.

I use Ca, same as on wood. Seal the ends as well.

I use CA just like wood - thin to soak in and then finish with medium

Several coats of thin CA followed by buffing.

My group of kayak builders and penmakers (yes, when it comes to woodworking we have range) are about to embark on stabilizing stuff, especially wood but also antler. Anyone have experience stabilizing antler? The approach we will take involves drawing air out of the antler and replacing it with resin.
