ChefWare threading jig, pricey but built like a tank, nothing bad to say about it.Very nice…. Wondering how you do the threads? If I were to do it, I'd single point thread on the metal lathe….wondering if you've got a nice alternative.
The problem with thread chasers is that you are pretty much limited to exotic wood. The setup I have has a higher initial cost, but now I can use any wood and I feel it will it will be cheaper in the long run. It also creates much better threads than hand chased ones. This is also a possibility https://www.robert-sorby.co.uk/woodturning/specialist-woodturning-tools/thread-cutting.html
Not suitable for every type of wood and you do not have to learn the technique. I'm still learning.
Indeed you are limited in wood choice. My main problem is that my collection of tools is too big for my shed. Chasers are smaller. The problem with thread chasers is that you are pretty much limited to exotic wood. I bought a really nice chaser and then found out you can't just use any wood. My fault for not researching that.Indeed you are limited in wood choice. My main problem is that my collection of tools is too big for my shed. Chasers are smaller.
