After seeing the previous rebar pen picture, I had to try one myself. I was surprised that I was able to drill the rebar on my Jet 1014 vs lathe with a Harbor Freight drill bit. I used a lot of water and WD 40 and took my time. I think that the rust adds something to the pen.

Weight

Thanks. It weights 2.4 oz. You loose a lot of the weight when you drill a 3/8 inch hole through it. For a comparison, a Sierra I just receive as a PITH pen, weighs 1.3 ounces.

Very cool!! well other than melting down that steel and ship it to the *%#$ knows where, good thing to pick up at construction sites if one gets permission.
