Hello everyone. My name is Cherie and I am from a small town in South West Mo...Pomona. I am very new to this form of wood work. Most of my work is scrolled, but I have wanted to try turning pens for awhile now. My fiance purchased a lathe, and now all I need to do is come up with the money to buy pen turning supplies. LOL. I guess we all go through that.
Here is a link to our web site called CE Woodworks. Let us know what you think.

I am also a full time student attending Drury University and a grand mother chasing around 2 grand kids. So between all this, I have not much time on my saw unless it is Spring break or Christmas.

Hi there Cherie! And welcome. My dad came from Joplin, MO. And I've spent some time back there. I love the spring and fall. But I'm a southern California girl by heart.

Below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42446

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

Welcome Cherie from a Northeast Missouri Member. You have some great scroll saw work on your website. You and your fiance may want to consider attending the upcoming Spring meeting of the Southwest Missouri Penturners on March 20 at Republic Missouri. More information can be found in the local forums section above. Looking forward to seeing some of your work on pens and again welcome to this money depleting vortex.

Let me know the time and we will see if we can make it. Jaun is an over the road truck driver and I am sure if he gives his boss plenty of advance warning we should not have a problem making it.
Thank you for all the warm welcomes.

Cherie here is a link to the Southwest Missouri Chapter Forum; http://www.penturners.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=74 you will find most of the information there under the Spring Meeting Thread. I am told the meeting will be from about 9AM until 3 PM and they will be planning some demos and other activities.

Welcome Cherie. Loved your website! Lots of great information here on making pens. Thanks for joining us. If you have questions, just ask. There is a good bunch of pen turners in your area if you can attend a meeting. When you get started, post some picts of your work!

scroll work

I know many of you have seen my scroll work, but I have not updated our website and have a few new pieces to eventually add.
