Well, I'm another newbie, and like so many others, I've been lurking around here off and on for a while. I finally joined IAP last week and have posted a couple of photos of some recent work. I've been turning for about 1 1/2 years, and am totally addicted. My friends call me a wood junkie, and I am now experiencing odd pieces of wood on my doorstep and in the mailbox from well-meaning folks.
I joined the Treasure Valley Wood Turners Club a year ago here in the Boise, Idaho area and would highly reccomend to any one that they join their local club. It is like going to school all over again, and I have learned so much from these folks that I wonder how I even turned the lathe off and on prior to joining!
We just had our 6th year of turning pens for our active duty Military Heros in Iraq and Afganistan this past Saturday. This was my 2nd year of being part of this event. We turned 1300 pens on Saturday at our local Woodcraft Store for some very deserving people!
I look forward to getting to know you folks and have allready picked up many ideas and tips to help me improve my skills. Thank you!!
