I did not experience the bad odor. It did have a strong smell, but not nasty. This wood was great to work with. The photo does not do justice to the wood. The chatoyance in this stuff appears to be 1/2 inch deep or so. Thanks, for looking.

It's interesting, Richard. I don't find a bad odor from the regular desert ironwood, but the golden ironwood was pretty bad. I have no idea what would account for it--well, maybe those pesky coyotes! [:D]

They smell like they cam[:(]e off the bootm of a drained swamp.
