I have the axminster collet chuck from csusa and whished I would have paid a little more attention to the fact that it only has 3 different sizes where as the Beal collet has 5 different sizes so my question is are the collets interchangeable? Can I use the Beal collets with my axminster collet chuck?

Thanks Shane

Someone can correct me if my memory is faulty; but as I recall, the Axminster chuck accepts ER20 collets which go up to 1/2" in size. That equates to an 8 collet set in 1/16" intervals. I like the design of the Axminster better than the Beall as it allows you a little more tool clearance; but it doesn't have quite the grip range of the Beall.

The Beall chuck accepts ER32 collets and a full set of those in 1/16" intervals is 12 collets.

ER 20 collets and ER32 collets are not interchangeable.

Note: If you do a lot of work with metric sized materials, you might want a set of collets in 1/32" intervals rather than 1/16" intervals.

Shane, Randy pretty much said it. However, I believe the Axminster uses ER-25 collets. You cannot interchange Axminster and Beall collets. However, you can get a wide range os collets for the axminster. There is a set of 15 on ebay for $91.90 Buy-it-now (plus shipping). There is another Buy-it-now for individual collets at $12 each (plus shipping) in sizes from 1/16" to 5/8".

Confirmed by email from Axminster today. Their Junior chuck takes the ER20 collet and not the ER25 and they are not interchangeable. As Billy says you can also get good deals on ER20 collets on eBay or on ER32 collets for your Beall collet chuck.
