Congratulations on your transition into agriculture!!!!

Please be advised that the FDA will be stopping by to make certain you are in compliance with all regulations regarding your rice paddy.

The lily pads will certainly attract frogs, so there will also be a visit from the SPCA to be certain you have provided sufficient shade, so their poor little bodies will not overheat (if you overheat while tending your crops, go get a drink of water, no one cares about the guy who owns the crops--unless he fails--then you can get government "assistance')

Of course, should the climate change (and we all KNOW the climate is changing), you will be responsible for maintaining the water level in your gardens to keep you flora and fauna comfortable. But don't take any water from the public supply!!! (That supply is limited, just ask California)

I am with you Chris. I may come help you harvest but first I will need a machete to cut through the grass in my front yard. ;)
 
It's been rough here as well. Our neighbor is trying to redo their deck around the pool as well as fix other things around it. They had to drain it to do a lot of the work and that's when the rain really set in. Now they have all the critters falling and jumping in causing new problems. They've had several rabbits fall in and they were able to get a few out alive. The funniest part is when they left town for a couple of weeks and the bullfrogs moved in and kept the people next door up all night croaking. They said they didn't have this much trouble when the pool was full but something about a few inches of dirty water just attracts wildlife.
 
I have notified PETA they will be out shorty to check the conditions for the Frogs. No spearing or gigging allowed. You also need to humanely harvest the rice. Please send rain west all you can we will take it all of it.
 
Be careful what you wish for Tom. That's what we were asking for last year. I don't think we had it as bad as you do but now we have more than plenty. I'm kinda concerned that it might be one extreme to the other for a while. Too much or not enough. I do hope ya'll get what you need soon. I mentioned to the neighbor with the pool that i told her story here and she laughed and said there are babies or at least smaller frogs now. She's using the nets to clean the pool to dip out the critters. Now that peta might be showing up they can help keep them out. I did laugh when I asked what she was doing with the animals she said she was turning them loose in the front yard. I said that's just a hop, skip and a jump away she needed to take them further away to be considered relocating.
