In the last 2 days, my email scanner has trapped 7 of these things from people I've never heard of before. For those who don't know, this is apparently the latest, or one of the latest, cyber-threats. If you get an email that contains a link to an e-card and it's from someone you don't know, DO NOT follow the link, just delete it. All of the ones my email scanner caught claimed to be from old classmates.

Good advice. I have noticed them also. And they are the only spam getting through my various layers of protection. And, it's a pity as we will probably start deleting genuine e-cards sent from friends and relatives. Wish there was some way to fire back at these jerks.

I've been getting a bunch of them also ..... at first I thought they were from Jeff ... sending a musical greeting and thanking me for being such a wonderful, outstanding member of IAP .... then I realized they weren't from him after all ... sigh .... [V]

This is a virus for sure. The first time I received one of these mails, I followed the link and up popped Mr McAfee telling me there is a potential problem. Luckily the virus protection caught it before it caused any damage.

I got this last week from a cousin. It's probably what y'all have been getting

WORST VIRUS EVER --- CNN ANNOUNCED

PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST!!

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered
yesterday afternoon by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero
from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are
stored.

This virus acts in the following manner:

It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the
title:

"A Card for You"

As soon as the supposed v irtual card is opened the computer freezes so
that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ del keys or the reset
button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently
destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus
caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.
So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card for You." As
soon as you get the mail, delete it !! Even if you know the sender !!!

Please pass this mail to al l of your friends.

Forward this to everyone in your address book. I'm sure most people,
like myself, would rather receive this notice 25 times than not at all.
