Hi there and greetings from northeast Indiana. I'm totally new to wood turning and figured pen making looks fun, as well as a good beginner project. I bought a used Rikon 70-100 lathe and a beginner set of turning tools from an older gentleman who was selling some things due to his moving into a nursing home. Hope to learn on some scrap wood and then advance to a pen kit soon. Would love to make a nice pen and send to the older gentleman who sold me the lathe. Anyway, hope everyone is staying safe and having a good week. Thanks for having me!

Welcome, I hope you enjoy it.
With that being said, making pens is by far my most expensive hobby. I've spent close to a grand in the last 2 months. That's was not a lathe or tools. And I've given away more pens than sold.
