I also worked on a couple of bowl blanks... the first is a piece of greenheart poplar that I bought from my favorite wood importer up in Knoxville... it was about 10 x 10 x 5 inches and pretty cheap. I used my woodcut corer to save the smaller bowl out of the bigger one... nice green color to both. The big bowl is 10 x 4 inches and the smaller one is 8 x 2 1/2 inches.. both finished in sanding sealer and polyurethane.

The other two bowls are Spalted Sycamore (I think)... my neighbor delivered a front end loader with 8 logs to my place... he said his log splitter wouldn't split them, so he gave them to me... he didn't know what kind of wood, but after splitting one with a chainsaw and also looking at the bark and the wood under the bark, I'm relatively certain they are sycamore.... some of the wood has the rays that you sometimes see in sycamore. These two are 9 1/2 x 4" and 7 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches... again finish is sanding sealer and polyurethane.
