I was gonna call it 'Magnetic DCE Al SS Ti PR Sementation' but that was a bit of a mouthful !!:rolleyes:

This has titanium segmented with white pr. There are small neodymium ring magnets recessed into both the cap and the body. The nib is stainless steel which is screwed into an aluminium sleeve which supports the segmentation as well. ( Just like a normal kit brass tube does ).

I like the magnetic cap arrangement and think I'll use them more and more. I hope you guys like it too. :biggrin:

Here's a pic of it apart and you can make out the magnets.
Also the first failed attempt....... :rolleyes:
When I do a metal to PR segmentation and the joints are not absolutely clean, then I clamp them together and heat them up a bit with a heat gun.
The clamping pressure ensure there are no gaps once the PR has softened a bit. Once it has completely cooled, it can be glued. Here, I had too much pressure and not enough heat. The Ti part is usable, but the PR is history. :biggrin:

Steven, It wouldn't matter what name you gave it.
You cannot detract from the Fact
"It is SUPERB".
I wouldn't be suprised if it made the Front Page.
It is comforting to see that you have problems and failures, just like us mere pen makers.

I got two sizes. Both are pretty small. One is 10mm OD x 6mm ID x 2mm thick. These are very strong but the small inside hole is limiting.
Much more usable is the 10mm OD x 8mm ID x 2mm thickness.

Mike, I used my milling machine to cut the titanium and a router set up on my lathe to cut the resin. The milling machine can't spin fast enough to get a decent clean cut on resin.
If I was able to use the same set up for both, then I wouldn't have needed to use the heat to perfect the joints.

Incidently, I did wreck the milling cutter..:redface: ( Sorry Charlie !! It was one that you gave me :redface: )

I have a collet chuck on order but decided that as my standard chuck has a drawbar, that it would 'do'.......WRONG !!! The morse taper is indeed secured by the drawbar but there is also a taper fit into the chuck!!

I'll wait for the collet chuck before doing any more....:rolleyes:
