I was making a little progress on pen craftsmanship and BAM, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After chemo and a stem cell transplant from my brother I am doing well and feeling very blessed for it, my counts are recovering, my wife is stressed out but doing well, as well as so many other blessings. My wife and I tried to figure out what caused it : dust, CA fumes, jet exhaust, the Navy, etc. We will probably never know and it helped me realize what's really important in my life.

I encourage everyone to register with the National Bone Marrow Registry at beamatch.org to possibly donate bone marrow or stem cells. Thousands of patients with blood cancers need a transplant but there's no match. It's free to register(if older than 44 I think there is a fee) and if called to donate the cost is covered. You could be the one to save a life.
Thanks for reading this and considering registering.

I'm on the list also and I encourage everyone to consider it.
Also consider donating blood.
I do a double red donation on a regular schedule and have already given six gallons.
It feels great to know you help save lives.

Been on the list for years. Preliminary matched once, so the have my typing analyzed completely. Next time I hear from them will be if there is a solid match.
