Hey guys,
So today I had the itch to turn, so I went in my "elite blanks" and I decided to go with a tough one, this is from the door of a white oak barrel. I have been told they are pretty old. I crosscut the piece a while ago.
This one has really unusual coloring. Most of the wood I got from this source is cracked and barely usable. It was a challenge to turn, very open grained, soft, it's far from being cocobolo in term of density! Oh yeah and the garage still smell wine! HIC!
