You heard correctly. Buffalo horn is a cracker. I stopped using it years ago. But yes, nice pen.

Nice pen. I have a custom knife with water buffalo horn scales. Made in the mid 90s, no cracking yet..... And it is pretty dry here in NM.

And, as predicated... it cracked. Does anyone have a suggested repair for it?

Rusty; Either Hide the crack or Emphasize the crack. Sand a scrap of horn with coarse sandpaper and fill crack with it. Fill crack with sanding dust. OR Fill the crack with some gold or silver liming wax.

PS. I have had good results by drilling the blank +0.050" oversize, then use foaming Gorilla Glue.
