Alumilite LOVE

I’m simply in love with Alumilite Clear for
casting. It's everything and more that a
turn crazy fool like me could LOVE. There
is NO SMELL AT ALL, It gels in minutes and
for us I want it NOW generation it satisfies
BIG TIME. This is my first casting try and
boy did it come out better than I expected.

I pressure casted in my HF pot and no bubbles at all, but
If it's warm enough and you stir well but gingerly as to
no introduce bubbles I think with the right poor tech. you
might not even need the pot. This is my first cast pen it is
Abalone shell in a facet arrangement with black titanium kit.
The Alumilite turned easy and was fun to work with too.

That's a gorgeous cast, Don. Explain again, and a little more slowly this time, what you did to get that result? I'm not sure what it is I'm looking at.

I used the black titanium cigar kit, then cut strips of
Abalone shell to equal widths and lengths. I then individually
glued the pieces to the kit blanks. Then I cast them in a mold
from GIZMO. Pressurized them in my HF pot and Voilà perfect...

The blank looks better than this I just took the picture at
night so lighting is off and I’m to tired from working on the pen
all day to tweak the setting, so I’ll take some pictures in natural
light which will then allow you to see the true hues and colors much better.

How did you plug the ends of the tubes before you cast the blank, and how did you center the tubes in the mold (so they weren't lying on the bottom)?

Ok , Just got in from work only ten mins. of daylight left.
Ran outside cam and pens in hand. You can see the stark difference in photos, this is the same pen. What a difference natural light
makes. The line on the side of the pen is there on all sides. It is not a defect, it is the facetting created by the arrangement of the shells on the brass tube. In person it augments the pens design.

But in this picture since the pen is stable you only get to see it
the facet on that position. I will be making a classic and baron
with this same technique soon, can't wait.
