A couple of weeks ago I ordered another Alimilite Clear kit. I got a call from alumilite and was told they were having issues w/ the B Side of the clear and could not sell it until they worked through it. I was given the option to try Water Clear instead or wait till the clear is ready. I chose the water clear knowing it was a shorter pot life (5 mins as opposed to Clears 7 mins). My first reaction to the Water Clear is the A Side has a definite odor that the Clear does not. That is not a big deal unless you cast in your house then be aware of that fact, I don't cast in my house. Next observation is that the Water CLear will stick to Mold Max Molds
. Ripped some good size pieces out of my mold. I have some DuPont Teflon Silicone spray that I decided to try out on the molds, it's a rattle can spray so you have to shake it. Worked like a charm w/ no reaction to it by the Alumilite.
So all in all I am happy w/ the Water Clear but will not be switching over anytime soon.
List of noticed differences in the Water Clear
1. shorter pot life. 5 Mins instead of 7 mins.
2. "A" Side Odor
3. Sticks to Mold Max Molds, resolved with DuPont Teflon Silicone Lube
4. Will not polish up like Clear but that is not an issue as my blanks need a finish applied to them but I would not recommend for a 100% resin blank
That's all I have for now. This is just for your information in case you are torn between the two.
