This was one of those awful-looking burls that was hiding some nice wood inside.

Wow! Your turning brought out what nature grew into this beautiful burl!!! Wonderful project and you should certainly be proud of your work and selection of this awesome burl! Thanks for sharing and safe turning to you always!
 
Does it look really big, or is it really BIG??

I think of 'juniper' and I think of a small limb looking sticking out of the ground a few feet....not awesome bowl, with a burl too!!!

(I really hate to tell you this, but....gasp....I'm afraid there is a HOLE in that bowl!!!)

Beautiful work! Someday I'll be able to do work like that...if I live long enough.

It is fairly big, about a foot in diameter. Our old alligator juniper trees grow for a couple of hundred years and can be up to 3-4 foot in diameter at the base.
