Alan Lacer two day event in Columbia Missouri
September 25-26, 2010
Cutoff date for registration is September 7.
Demonstration event September 25 $60:
Alan will take you through the process of shaping, sharpening and honing the skew chisel. From there he will show a variety of different cuts and probably make several items. Included in this part of the demo, Alan will discuss the ins and outs of sharpening all of the turning tools. Using images from a digital microscope he will show different edges and the wood cut with those edges.In the afternoon Alan will go through the problems of end-grain hollowing. As part of this demo he will make a hook tool–and use it to make a lidded box.
Hand on instruction event September 26 $100:
Each attendee will need to bring a mini lathe with stand and tools.
Attendance up to eight people with MidMo-Woodturners members getting first preference.
Making Friends With the Skew Chisel: A class to calm your fears and develop skills with this sometimes ornery tool. Alan will show you how to shape, sharpen and hone the tool. From there students will follow along to do at least 6 different cuts with the skew.
