Got out the airbrush outfit and dusted it off. I have lots of blanks that are light colored as maple. Anyone airbrush blanks? Paint used? What finish do you apply over the paint? Thanks.

I've never airbrushed a blank but it seems like a great idea!
I'd try on scrap wood and try different finishes to be sure that the color doesn't smear of fade. I would first try a good friction polish as they contain no resins or solvents. Post some examples if it turns out good. You can experiment with different finishes to see which one don't ruin the airbrushing.

I do a few here and there when needed. The problem I've had is some finishes will smear the paint because I like to use water based paints for easier cleanup and less odor. I apply a clear enamel spray finish over them before I do any other finishing. I've had good luck with the Dupli-Color clear coat rattle cans at the local auto parts store.

Thanks. Over the airbrush paint? Brand of enamel paint? Have HD, Lowe's Ace Hardware locally. Also, have a credit card with a credit on it. Hmm.

Yep, just make sure to give your paint plenty of time to dry. Do a test paint to make sure your wood isn't soaking up the paint causing it to bleed. If you, you may need to seal the wood with some thin CA or spray first.
I use the automotive clear but you could probably use any clear. Just test it to see how it works with your paint first.

Overnight will work. Got into that when building custom fishing rods to let the thread epoxy dry. Have tons of extra wood.
