Got some time to work on a few pens after I got off work. I've been wanting to start making kitless/bespoke pens, but figured I'd ease into it with a closed-end kit first. Pictured below is an Apollo kit from Bullseye Turning. I'm not a huge fan of how I ended up shaping it, but it was a fun kit to try out overall. I do think I unfortunately got a bad kit, the threads holding the ink cartridge in weren't deep enough, so it wouldn't stay tight when I put the cartridge in.

After the photos were taken I thought I'd try a bit of blue semi permanent thread lock. Boy was that not a good idea. I essentially froze the threads so I couldn't put a cartridge in. I finally got it separated with lots of heat, and the little bit of thread lock that was left seemed to be enough to tighten up the threads.

I also wanted to try turning some fordite(not sure on the background of this fordite i used, looks generic to me). I have a friend who's a car guy, so I planned to gift it to him afterwards. I tried using carbide tools and boy did that not go well. I switched to sanding and that ended up working out in my favor.
