Often completely black with brown streaks. African blackwood is very dense. One of the most dense woods in the world.
This product is imported and sold in West Virginia, US.
Size: 1" x 1" x 6"
Janka Hardness: 3,670 lbf (16,320 N)
Highly sought for inlays. A great wood to work with.
All pieces are dried before shipping and kept indoors to reduce the humidity changes on the wood.
African blackwood is listed on CITES appendix II, US shipping only.

+1 for this. I hope that someone picks this up. I would grab it but I am already bursting with wood that I haven't used yet.

African Blackwood is a fantastic substitute for Ebony and I actually prefer it. Gabon ebony looks jet back and can often look like plastic. The African Blackwood shows the grain a bit more and is wonderful once polished up.
