There was a woodturner from Canada named Jean Michel. He had a website where he shares information, videos, jig plans, etc.

I communicated with him several times back in 2004-2005 and he is a super nice guy. Always willing to help even strangers like me. I spoke to him last while he is undergoing some treeatment (cancer I think but not certain).

I tried contacting him these past months because of a plan he shared me that in turn I want to share to others but to no avail. I learned today that he passed away about 2 years ago.

The dilemma...I would like to share his plans but will that be right? I plan on keeping everything including his name on the plans. I believe he wouldn't mind and actually want it that way but what do you think?

BTW, I would like to request a prayer for Jean Michel, a fellow woodturner who shared his knowledge until the very end.

Thank you

Did you look online. His info is still online here:

http://www.atbq.qc.ca/jm2/
and Woodturning Online has his sharpening jig plan

I think this is , what he would have wanted. Several years ago, he had sent me some information regarding on of his plans and I was very saddened when I learned he passed away. I remember seeing this on one of the wood turning forums some two years ago.

Gary,

That is it!

The link that I have are already dead...and was informed that the relatives decided (in his honor) to keep it up.

It used to be that you can only get the plans via email from him.

Thank you!

Is the project already covered on his site? I'll pray for wisdom, but I agree that you will need permission, if it's copywritten. If it was a collaboration, then it may not be a problem.

Rob,

Yes, the project (sharpening jig plan) is in the website but not the plans itself that he emailed me.

According to Gary's post above it is posted in Woodturning Online (sharpening jig plan). I will just point people that way if they ask.

The neat thing with his plan is it is life size. If you print it, you basically can use it as a pattern.
