Well first off I'm new to pen turning (started in May) and secondly I don't sell pens (I hope to give them away as gifts). We have a new evangelist at the congregation I attend and I would like to make he and his wife pens as welcome gifts. I thought I would make him a cigar pen (I like them so I hope he will to). My problem is I have no idea what type of pen to make his wife. If some of you that sell pens would share what type of pens the ladies like I would appreciate it. I want to try and make some type that she will use.

Welcome to IAP and, penturning. I would suggest an Elegant Beauty style pen. I'm sure you will get plenty other suggestions soon. Great gesture.
 
Slimline in pink acrylic or as mentioned Divas, Princess and Elegant beauty.
 
I concur with EB for the wife. However, I'm not sure about cigar for the husband.

Years ago when we made a pen for our priest, we chose a comfort with a small cross. He loved it and it replaced the pen that he routinely carried in his shirt pocket.

If your new evangelist is a person who routinely carries around a pen with him, the cigar may be too large.
 
I have found since I sarted making the Coventry from CSUSA I can't keep them in stock. They are priced higher than the slimlines but sell way faster for the Ladies.

Kinda funny my father in law is the new Fill in Preacher at the church my wife and kids go to, and I do some work around there from time to time, but I made him a pen and pencil set, with a deer clip and a rifle clip.

They have "cross clips" pretty cheap. You may consider putting one of those on a slim line.

The Sierra Elegant Beauty, previously recommended several times, lives up to its name. You may want to consider the Inlayed Cross and/or Praying Hands pen blanks if you want a religious theme. I have some on my website if you want to see what they look like. Good turning.

I made a cigar for my father and a slimline for my mom for Christmas out of Bethlehem Olive Wood. They love them. My dad carries the cigar in his shirt pocket all the time without any difficulty. The BOW adds a nice subtle, but meaningful religious touch. (It doesn't hurt that it is a beautiful wood.)
