I'm working on a special project and I need to figure out how to make a pen cap for a slimline that will stay in place via a friction fit. Any tips or tricks for how to pull this off? I'm considering gluing an O ring into the cap, but not sure if I will be able to attach it in such a way that it will give me the hold I need, and still stay affixed after repeated use.

I wonder if you could take some of those self adhesive felt furniture pads and cut a little strip and put inside it. ???

I take it that you want the cap to slide on over the nib end of an otherwise normal slimline.

Is this correct ?

Using a single o-ring, as you suggested, might not be quite adequate. . But I would think that two or three o-rings, suitably spaced, would likely work.

Of course, if the nib-end barrel is not close to cylindrical, this might be difficult to accomplish.

It was done with tiny magnets like the Zen kits where the cap is held on by magnets. I believe SkipRat did it. You can check with him.
