I have always been interested in VFD but have not delved into it. One of these days . . .

Hank; I have a Variable Direct Current (VDC) controller and Permanent Magnet motor on my 9x20 metal lathe from a long time ago. I wanted a speed up to 3800 RPM. On a metal lathe with a large jaw chuck this is EXCITING! The speed varies with load though. I've thought of a VFD, but not gone further with it.
