Acrylic and odor

Good Morning!
Has anyone noticed a difference in the odor coming off the acrylic blanks? I have turned many blanks and had no problem. My shop is in the basement and have turned in both winter and summer. As of mid February I started to turn after a short break and my wife was becoming sick from the smell. I did nothing different accept use a recent acquired blank.
If you did notice it how did you get rid the smell so it did not penetrate the house?

Oh yea! I was recently turning some acrylic blanks for razor handles and a couple of bottle stoppers and stunk up the entire house. The odor lasted for a 3-4 hours. The smell wasn't very popular with the wife.
