I been thinking too much, as usual, and I would like some opinions.
Since stablized blanks are mostly acrylic of some sort and acrylics are, well acrylic. Do they need a finish at all? CA is probably some kind of plastic, as well as Enduro and Poly. That's my thought process, am I wrong? I have been way wrong in the past with finishing, so I have a hard time trusting my thoughts.

Thanks

i think you'd be fine using CA on stabilized blanks. it just depends, like scott said, how much exposed wood there is. as far as acrylic, all i ever use is hut plastic polish after MM-ing it. others use scratch remover and other things, but the hut works well and doesn't require anything else beyond that.

It depends on the wood and the stabilizing process. You have to go by what you see when you turn. I'll occasionally experiment by turning a blank to round, but not down to pen dimensions, then go through the sanding and finishing process. It is all part of the learning curve. And that never stops.

I think I will try and experiment on some scrap, Or do as Frank suggests and finish the pen early to get a feel for the wood. I am far from an expert on finishing, but I am getting better.
Thanks to all for your replies.
