I've made several of these acorn boxes with threaded lids over the past few months. These three are marblewood with a mesquite top, and two plum wood boxes both with bubinga tops. The second picture is to show the threads. I'm using the Chefware Kits EZJig to cut the threads and texturing the lid with a Wagner tool.

Thanks for posting !!! ... These are VERY beautiful and very nicely done !

What would be the outside diameter at the open top where the lid screws on, please ?

And how did you finish them ?

The OD for the marblewood one is ~1-1/4 inch. The smaller of the two plum boxes is about the same. The larger plum box may be around 1-3/4 inch.

Both the marblewood and the plum are quite dense woods so 1 coat of wipe-on poly and then a good buffing on the bottoms. The tops get two or more coats of the WOP. The mesquite seems to take more than the bubinga to make it look right.
