Will paint thinner work in place of acetone to remove sanding dust on blanks and/or CA on hands? I was reading that DNA adds moisture to blanks and can lead to clouding so I thought I would try acetone. The problem is that I don't have any yet but I do have 4 or 5 cans of paint thinner. So does anyone know if the paint thinner will work in place of acetone?

No, paint thinner has oils and that is what you are looking to get rid of.

Compressed air takes off the dust and doesn't leave ANY residue!
Oh yeah...it's a lot cheaper than acetone or paint thinner!

Yep I normally hit it with compressed air after each grit but when I put my first coat on you can see dust on the paper towel. I was hoping to eliminate it as much as possible. Plus I heard it is better when working with oily wood to wipe it down with acetone.

I use DNA as the fumes are not as bad for you. But, I use acetone on really oily wood before the first coat only.

However, I usually seal with thin CA before sanding, which I think greatly limits moisture intake from DNA (and prevents dust staining on segmented blanks). I also use a dry part of the paper towel to let a little friction help dry it.

I would but she is one of the chosen ones that looks beautiful without all that makeup (her choice). Alas no bottle to steal, although with the price I saw of acetone I think nail polish remover would be cheaper!

check your wifes nail polish remover. there is a good chance that it is 100% acetone.
