I've had my Presidential pen as a user for years and years, and have worn that 10K gold finish right off... so I'm a believer in buying a better finish...

I know they say that the Titanium and Rhodium finishes hold up the best.. but do they?

And how, in practice, do the others hold up?

Does chrome wear pretty well?

What others would you recommend?

I've never had a chrome pen returned (nearly 20 years now).

Never had a TiGold come back (been available about a decade).

I have had 24kt and 10 kt returned.

While others here may disagree, true chromium plating is the hardest finish that is readily available. I've never had problems with chrome finishes and I actually perfer chrome plating over a rhodium coating.

Respectfully submitted.

The finishes I build are Chrome, TN Gold, Black TN and sometimes Rhodium (sometimes "fancy" centerband and fenials only come in Rhodium, i.e. Jr Statesman).

All the other finishes have given me problems.

For gold color, you can choose between 24kt, 10kt, rose gold and TiGold. I can't remember seeing any others.

All, except TiGold will wear, Rose Gold may tarnish, as well as it is Copper based.

So...

Just to recap...

For a gold color use the Ti Gold.
For silver look, use Chrome or Rhodium.
For "black" use Chrome or Ti. Is the chrome black, more black than the Ti?

Thanks for all the replies...
