My dad planted a black walnut tree many years ago. It grew into a beautiful tree. Unfortunately it had to come down this past fall. I kept a large branch and made a pen from the material. This is a keeper.

Very Interesting and nice. It looks to me like you found a cross section just wide enough for the tube without the bark. I like the pattern you ended up with.

Cool pen! Do you have more wood for others? I have a tree on my lot that is an oak from acorns gathered in Sherwood Forest. Recently had to trim a couple branches, so i have a pot load of logs in the basement with latex pain on the ends waiting to be make into sawdust.
