A Rookie mistake!!!!!!!!

:redface::redface: I am sure I am and always will be the only one who has done this so I thought I would share a laugh or two . I had an idea come to me awhile ago so yesterday I decided to try putting together a blank and casting this idea. Now I grabbed tube that was marked sierra tube bag and proceded to make this blank I am working on. Got it all done and went to cast and when done realized the tube was actually a lower half cigar tube. Not pretty as they say. I have stressed many times don't be in a hurry, don't take things for granted and always measure the parts used. I violated all the above. In my haste to get this idea onto a pen to see what it would look like I failed but will try again in the future. 20 lashes with a wet noodle is due. I have to go now.

There are no mistakes, just misunderstood opportunities. John, back off, give it a good look and regroup. Knowing your work, I'll almost guarantee that you will ctually improve on the original idea.

Ed may have a good idea. Have to take another look at this. Not sure there is enough meat left after turning. But will give it a try. I really was looking to put on a Sierra vista. To be continued.

You probably already know this, but some others won't.

Turn the bottom barrel "fatter" than usual (NOT preggy--just the normal flow to the point, but don't get as thin at the nib. Then, round over (relieve) the end in a small radius to the nib. IF things go badly, put an acrylic "feature" at the end (eighth inch or 3/16). Do the same at the clip end, if it makes sense in your design.

Pens with "features" are worth MORE than those without. And, yes I have sold this concept--several times.

Have fun with it---remember, you get to PLAN the next one---not that it will go correctly, but it WILL be PLANNED!!

I will play around with it abit. But this is not that great of a concept just something abit different than what I have seen. Its more the material used than the look. Just trying different things
