Hello All, I'm Vic Vickers. I live on the eastern plains of Colorado in Falcon, CO. Pikes Peak , America's Mountain is about thirty miles west out my front window. The view makes it tough riding to work...just want to keep on westward into the Rockies.
I really got into pens about a year and a half ago. I had a partily finished Zebra Wood Slim Line laying around for about five or six years. My latest addiction is Celtic Knots using Juniper with Maple knot or contrasting acrlyic blanks. There's something about getting that knot to come out just right. I also turn see through ornaments. I've been plotting how to turn an inside out ornament with a four loop knot. I've accomplished an eight loop knot on a fountain pen for a co-worker...It's led to several orders.....
I might also mention I'm a retired Army Pilot...Proud to have served and Darn proud of those who served before, are serving now and will serve in the future...Soldier On!

Welcome. You probably know this but I will mention it anyway - Not too far from you in C S is Ernie McFarland with BearToothWoods. Great pen supplies there. Wish I were that close!

Vic; Welcome! Some time ago I did a couple of celtic knot pens and like you had trouble making them come out right.

I attempted several times to make a jig for these pens.

Some examples of Pens created with the jig.

Just so you know that any jig is not "idiot proof", the second pen on the left has one of the inlays mis-aligned.

Photo Gallery of the latest revision of the jig:

A PDF file of the jig construction and use:

A Google Sketchup File of the jig showing dimensions.

Sketchup is a free 3-D drawing tool available on Google.

Hope this helps....
