I am interested in trying some label casting on turned pen blanks. The best example I can site and would like to emulate is Les Elm's work. My first question for those who do this kind of thing is what brand/model of ink jet printer do you use? My small Epson Workforce printer died a few days ago and I need to get something new.

I may be overthinking this, but one concern that pops into my "photographer's mind" is the question of print fading. I am pretty well versed on the lifespan of inkjet prints on canvas and certain papers but, I have no clue how quickly an ink jet print on Water Slide media is likely to fade (if at all) on a wood pen with a polyurethane or CA finish. Has any body out there noticed one of their images fading over time? Have any of you ever thought about it? Remember I said I may be overthinking this.

Thanks for reading and all replies would be very much appreciated.

HP Officejetpro 6978. No problems. I use Testors waterslide sheets. Use their top coating also. Comes as a kit.
