Keith visited my shop a while back and I gave him some blue spruce pinecones. Graciously made me a couple of blanks that I could use with this dragon twist pen. Thanks Keith.
Tehachapi is really unique if the blue spruce develops pine cones instead of spruce cones ! Sorry Mark , couldn`t resist . The pen looks great . I have in the past taken a 3 or 4 inch long blue spruce cone , cast it , drilled down the center , painted the inside of the blank red or silver before gluing in the tube , and gotten excellent results with the colour showing through between the turned down scales . I did allow the squirrels to eat the seeds from the cones before picking them up .
