A New Litter!

Yup....my spoons have been reproducing but not to the magnitude of Bob in SF's prolific procreation of Dichroic Pens :biggrin:

Here is my latest litter which I carved off and on for the last several months.
Mineral Oil/Beeswax finish buffed with a clean wheel.
Lengths: 8 1/4" - 14 5/8"
Left to right: Redbud, Mulberry, Cherry, Cherry, Maple, Ambrosia Maple

Bandsawn to shape, carved to final shape with knife.

The spoon bowl is hogged out with a rotary burr and then finished with a scraper and sandpaper. I use a rotary burr instead of my curved knife because some of the wood I carve is not green and my shoulders don't hurt as much.

Sanded to 320, raised the grain under running water, sand with 320, raise the grain a second time, sand to 600.

Two coats Mineral Oil and then one or two coats of Mineral Oil/Beeswax

Another fine job Charlie! I wish my mom had wooden spoons like that when I was a kid. I don't think she would have risked breaking one on my dear little bottom...
