It's been a while since I showed something. I was inspired by a little pen I saw at the OFPS meeting Tuesday night. I have been wanting to make myself a little pocket pen. So I free styled this one yesterday with a couple of pieces of acrylic I had hanging around.

It is a thin 14mm dia. with a #6 Jowo nib. It is 3.5" long closed and 5.375" open. It just fits an international cartridge. I think I could get it smaller, but I would have to switch to #5 nib. I used 13mm triple start threads, so I could have a slight lip, to give an almost seamless barrel/cap connection.

Since I suck at documentation, I of course did not wright down any of the steps I used. I plan to make more of these, so I will need to do another to fine tune and record my steps.

As usual, comments and critiques are welcome.

That...is almost too cute to look at! (But I looked anyway...several times) I think I'm off to the shop to see if I can do something along the same lines. Kudos to you, my friend!

Well done, Darrin !! . Looking forward to your complete documentation !!!! :)

Thanks Mal. The documentation isn't really a tutorial, it is more of a checklist for me to follow. I find if I don't do something for a couple of days, such as a section, I forget what exactly I did on the last successful one. I don't know if its age, or perhaps i have done things so many different ways, its hard to remember which way I preferred. As an example, I have done my #6 sections over a dozen different ways, changing dimensions and bits. Some work, while some work better. Without the list, they tend to blend together in my head, forcing me to recalculate what works. With my list now, I can do a "good" section in about 10min.

Looks awesome! This type of small fountain pen is my bucket list, maybe someday . I made a couple of El Toro fountain pens a while ago that are about the same format (only take a small ink refill) and loved the small size. El Toro is a bit bulky though, hoping to make mine a bit slimmer, and it looks you achieved that!

I've made a couple of the El Toros, what got me thinking small. I think some of the bulky feel in the El Toro, is the weight and the difference between the body diameter and the section.

I think this is about as small as I can get this using a #6 nib, but I want to try one using a #5.
