A Good Mugging

Walnut and Cedar. The walnut one is sold. Actually, 2 of the walnut ones are sold, I still have to make a second one. Turning these mugs has really improved my hollowing skills for boxes, cups, etc.

Great job. Just curious, what kind of finish did you use on those?

5 coats lacquer sprayed. Since they are meant to be used, and not art, I didn't buff them. The first one I did is my personal one. I took the time to buff that one, and a month or so after I started using it, you couldn't tell.

I like them. Got the hardware three years ago and still haven't made one. Don't know what I'm waiting on.

What size blank does this use? Peppermill-ish?

I cut the blanks to 3x3x10 before I start. that is a little long, but it gives plenty of room for a tenon to hold the cup for hollowing.
