Just realized I hadn't posted any of the pipes I've made recently.

All briar, first is a freehand with red amber stem.

Second is a pot billiard with faux jade stem band between green acrylic.

Third is a partially rusticated Rhodesian with red/black acrylic band.

Fourth is a partially rusticated poker with briar stem band.

I'm soooo jealous! That is some awesome work. How long have you been making pipes, and how did you get started?

Thanks guys!

I actually purchased my first wood lathe about three years ago with the idea to make pipes. Once I started turning, and learning the lathe, my attentions turned to pens, (and this forum), and I really got into pens and pipes never entered my mind again until maybe 6 months ago. I started selling off my pipe collection to help fund a metal lathe, (to help with the kitless pens I was starting to make), and in the process of handling the pipes for the photos and Ebay listings, sort of had my fascination with pipes renewed. So I jumped right in. It's funny, many of the skills I've developed with pen turning, directly relate to pipes. The main thing has just been developing my "style".

I think it would be cool to make a pipe. Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to make them? just a basic type of thing that i could get the basics down and then put my own spin on it.

either way your pips are really nice looking
