I took a break from kitchen floor tiling (grout tomorrow ) and spent a few hours in the shop. Amboyna, Afzilia, teal/violet BEB, and one that I'm keeping...spalted English beech. That one is special.
Very nice!! The beech is really nice. I am also a big fan of the amboyna. I have never turned it, but I'm anxiously waiting till the day I can get some...
Thanks for the comments. Lately I've been 'wet sanding' with CA and 300G, then going through the MicroMesh grits, finish with Deft spray and HUT stick. Unlike other folks, I think it's easier to 'work' the lacquer before it's completely 'cured'...so after letting the last coat sit for 10 or 15 minutes, I use steel wool with the grain before the HUT.
